*Rip Curl’s lab-certified lycra/elastane ensures a minimum 50SPF rating. In Australia, we are not allowed to label higher than 50+SPF, hence why there’s often a + sign. In saying that, a garment must test to above 60SPF to earn the + symbol. If the rashie reads just 50SPF, like a lot of cheap rashies, be wary that it may not meet the TGA standard for Australian sun protection.
